Inaugurated by Vahdettin Ertaş, Ph.D., CMB Chairman at the time, Murat Çetinkaya, Borsa İstanbul Board Member and CEO, and İlhami Koç, TCMA Chairperson, the General Meeting continued with the election of the presiding board. In the General Meeting, the Association’s 2018 budget, 2018 membership dues and pro-rata share of expenses were discussed. Award to TCMA from the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly In a ceremony organized by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly on 15 December 2017 with the support of the Ministry of Economy and attended by the Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekçi, the Minister of Finance Naci Ağbal and the Minister of Customs and Trade Bülent Tüfenkci, Turkey’s Top 500 Services Exporters were awarded. In the ceremony, during which companies that were entitled to awards based on 2016 service export figures were announced, TCMA was given a special prize for its contributions to determining the financial sector companies within the frame of the survey. TCMA Secretary General İlkay Arıkan was presented the prize by Mehmet Büyükekşi, President of the Turkish Exporters’ Association. Law on the Protection of Personal Data (LPPD) Seminar The Association organized the Law on the Protection of Personal Data (LPPD) Seminar on 18 December 2017. Received with great interest from our members, the seminar that took place at the Association was participated by 125 people. At the seminar, which was held with the cooperation of TÜV Austria Turk Academy, an overview of LPPD law, legislation governing personal data, and definition and scope of personal data were addressed by speakers Selin Aksoy, Vakur Kulat and Saygın Saman, attorneys-at-law. 11 th Development Plan Financial Services Enhancement Specialization Commission Report As part of the Financial Services Enhancement Commission set up within the frame of Eleventh Development Plan preparations for 2019-2023 of the Ministry of Development, the Association was assigned as the raporteur along with Serkan Çankaya, Ph.D. from İstanbul Commerce University, to prepare the Commission’s report. Taking into consideration İstanbul International Financial Center vision for 2019-2023, Financial Services Enhancement Specialization Commission Report will establish the current status of the national financial services sector, determine the issues, priority topics and goals, and set the basic policies necessary to attain these goals. Within this frame, a series of meetings were held in İstanbul and Ankara between 18 and 22 December 2017, during which various sub-working groups were set up to deal with insurance, banking, non-bank financial sectors, capital market, interest-free finance, financial technology, and nearly 80 Commission members and representatives from the public and private sectors found the opportunity to present their opinions. 19 th Extraordinary General Meeting Award to TCMA from the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly 37 TCMA 2017 Annual Report
