TCMA Annual Report 2021 42 INVESTOR EDUCATION Golden Egg University Goer Fund Basket Contest The fund basket contest initiated jointly by our Association, İstanbul Settlement and Custody Bank (Takasbank) and Turkish Institutional Investment Managers’ Association for promoting long-term saving up and investing among university goer youth took place between 3 May – 29 October 2021. In the “Golden Egg University Goer Fund Basket Contest”, university students managed their portfolios created on the virtual environment. Within the scope of the contest held in three different categories, contestants managed a virtual budget worth TL 1 million and those that generated the highest portfolio return each month received cash prizes. The grand prize of the contest, on the other hand, was “mutual funds” which were awarded to the top two ranked contestants. In each category, winners received mutual funds worth TL 10,000, whereas finalists each won mutual funds worth TL 7,000. At the conclusion of the contest, total prize given to the students that best managed their portfolios amounted to TL 66,000. Invitation by Karadeniz Technical University Career Center During the “Digital Transformation in the Finance Sector and Careers of the Future” webinar organized on 18 March 2021 upon the invitation of Karadeniz Technical University, it was emphasized that the future of financial markets will be data-driven, which is the world’s most valuable asset, and that big data will gain even higher importance in the period ahead. It was mentioned that concepts such as blockchain, big data and big data analysis, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and crowdfunding would be among the technological advancements that will impact the financial markets and the capital market. It was explained that behavioral finance would gain the foreground in investment decisions, market movements and sectoral reviews in the financial markets, and that issues could be overcome with multidisciplinary studies (statistics, economy, finance, psychology). Participated by over 100 students, the webinar ended with a Q&A session. Invitation by Yeditepe University Department of International Finance Yeditepe University held the “Digital Transformation in the Finance Sector and Careers of the Future” webinar on 30 March 2021. During the webinar, it was underlined that the future of financial markets will be datadriven, which is the world’s most valuable asset, and the importance of big data in the future was touched upon. Explanations were provided about the technological advancements that will impact the financial markets and the capital market. It was emphasized that behavioral finance would gain the foreground in investment decisions, market movements and sectoral reviews in the financial markets.
